Dear ZIMBOCASH Family, Greetings from our team. We trust you are well. Thank you for your patience. We’ve been on a radio silence with our fireside chats for the past few months. The reason — we’ve had some changes in our team and we have been working on our ZASH payments in-store strategy. With new members joining our team, bringing fresh ideas and energy, we are more determined than ever to make a real impact with ZASH being used on the ground. The flame of passion is burning within the team. We have come a long way since we started just over 4 years ago. We have created a working currency solution that is fixed in supply and can handle the payment needs of a nation, a wallet with crypto-level security, a customised and unique identity verification solution and have become the number one crypto brand in Zimbabwe with the largest network of subscribers. What we don’t have is the viral in-store solution… yet. We see that an incentive that enables people to recycle ZASH in trade is the critical enabler of our network. We’re working on this. We’ve piloted a couple of times and each time it has gone viral when it has worked, but with weaknesses. We’re getting closer each time. Some of the things we’ve learnt in our pilots are that the vendor cash-out mechanism is the critical enabler for a viral currency network. We’ve also seen that the vendor cash-out facility is a fantastic way to incentivise stores to grow the network. We’ve seen that if we gamify the incentives, we get a much higher adoption of users and vendors. We’ve seen that the more that ZASH is recycled in trade, the more the money multiplier begins to kick in. For this reason, we’re looking at working our strategy to incentivise entire supply chains to use ZASH from retail stores to farmers and their inputs. We’re getting really close to getting the incentive that builds viral growth in adoption across entire supply chains and industries. We are also building a really neat joint venture with an Auction house. In truth, there is a lot we need to do, and to do it right we need run several pilots to test these incentive models and platforms. Practically, we have found that when we announce our pilot programs, that it goes viral in ways that overwhelms our pilot programs. What we have seen is that the need is there and when people can buy real goods with ZASH it grows quickly in the area of the pilot. For this reason, we need to be quiet while we work on our pilots in the various regions. Please be patient with us. There is so much for us to do and as we scale up our team, we are scaling up our funding as well while expanding the networks in Zimbabwe. 6. Would the Zimbabwean CBDC result in a loss of sovereignty to foreign powers? Ultimately, there is a risk that Zimbabwe loses control of its financial system to global institutions. The United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, the World Economic Forum and other global institutions do not represent the interests of Zimbabwe. They are not elected by Zimbabweans – nor indeed by any other country for that matter. A Central Bank Digital Currency system runs a very real risk that Zimbabwe would cede control to these foreign powers and would ultimately be a loss of sovereignty to these organisations who do not have the interests of the Zimbabwean country at heart. The Solution In our view, there is only one feasibly solution for Zimbabwe to retain its sovereignty and dignity. The solution, is decentralised sound money. Indeed this is the only solution for any country wanting to explore alternatives to the CBDC system. This is what we are pursuing with the ZIMBOCASH ecosystem. As a currency, ZASH is fixed in supply using blockchain technology. We are pioneering the dream of bitcoin – a network of buyers and sellers making peer to peer payments in Zimbabwe using a currency that is fixed in supply. Ultimately, money printing enables gross centralised control, whereas decentralised sound money enables local freedoms for people and for nations. If Zimbabwe were to embrace a decentralised sound money system, Zimbabwe would be the only country in the world that has a fixed supply of money. In a world where countries are printing extreme amounts of money, Zimbabwe could become a banking centre. It would be a country where people would want to put their money! How the ZIMBOCASH team plans to deal with some of the weaknesses in digital currencies mentioned above: 1. Cash: Every country needs some level of cash. Our goal is to implement a point of sale payments system where we can issue prepaid cards that can be used to transact between people in trade who do not have access to the internet. This would be similar to the fuel voucher system that was previously implemented in country. It would be the way of creating cash from a cashless system. 2. ID: While any payments system needs a thorough ID verification solution to avoid fraud, we are very concerned regarding the invasive plans being made by global institutions. We use standard ID verification approaches used by established verification agencies, which are safe, effective and private. 3. Tech Development: A blockchain is an open system that can be fully audited and reviewed by other parties. ZASH currently uses the TRON decentralised ecosystem which has been fully peer reviewed and is open-source. 4. Fixed Supply of Money: We use blockchain technology to fix the supply of money– no-one, not even ourselves can change the supply of money. With the increasing global move towards a cashless society, it is unlikely that US dollar notes in circulation will be useful for that much longer.

Zimbabwe has recently improved and the country has been removed from the FATF greylist, but if the US dollar becomes anything of the cash-based system it used to be in Zimbabwe, there will be red flags from the FATF authorities again.

In 2009, after the Zimbabwe dollar collapsed in hyperinflation, the US dollar became the de-facto currency of the nation. It worked then, you might say — surely it will work again? Wrong. It’s a bad idea.
